Donation Recipient: Caring Heart

Hello and Happy Holidays,

I'd like to start by saying that opening your letter was by far the most rewarding piece of mail I have ever received. We hear stories all the time about individuals making a difference in the world, but to be chosen to help in your quest was a priceless gift. And boy did you catch my attention in the way you went about delivering your message!

The night I received your gift I went to a holiday party. I brought the letter with me and shared it with every person at the party. They were all touched and amazed by the HealthyHeart Foundation and it's introduction. Before I knew it everyone at the party was brainstorming ways to spend the $100. Your letter got everyone excited... it was wonderful to see.

It took me a while to figure out what to do with the money. I felt like I was making a life-changing decision and I didn't want to rush into it. After much debate and deliberation I decided to contact Dr. Iyabo Daramola in San Diego. She is an incredibly giving physician who has started her own foundation to fund a free clinic she provides for needy San Diegans without healthcare. Ironically her clinic is called The Caring Heart. I asked Dr. Daramola what $100 could do for a sick individual and if it could truly make a difference. Her answer was immediate. She had an individual in mind that could benefit more from this money than we could imagine. This woman is very poor, very sick, and incredibly compliant as she strives for her health. Can you believe that $100 will pay for her cholesterol screenings and diabetes medication for an entire year?!

Diabetes is an ugly disease that ultimately takes the life of those who have it. I know this first hand as it runs in my family and I watch my loved ones slowly deteriorate until their bodies can no longer fight. Thanks to the HealthyHeart Foundation I was able to give this woman the gift of a medication that will help her to live a longer healthier life.

You, the founding members of this foundation have made an impact on my life, the life of the recipient, but also the lives of everyone who read your letter.
